Community Rules
Argue about the news, not with each other’s existence. Here’s how the comments work.
Dumpster Fire comments are loud on purpose. Disagree, joke, roast the news. Just follow these rules.
Not allowed
- Hate: attacks on people for race, ethnicity, religion, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, disability or similar.
- Threats and violence: threatening anyone, wishing harm on people, or encouraging violence or self-harm.
- Harassment: targeting, stalking or piling on another user.
- Private information: posting anyone’s address, phone number, private photos or other personal details.
- Sexual content and anything sexualizing minors (reported to authorities).
- Spam and scams: ads, link farms, crypto or “work from home” pitches, repeated posts.
- Impersonation of other users, staff or public figures.
How moderation works
- Every comment is checked automatically when it’s posted. Clear violations are blocked, and borderline comments are held for a person to review.
- Readers can report comments. Comments with several reports are hidden until a moderator looks at them.
- Breaking the rules earns strikes. Repeated strikes lead to temporary or permanent bans.
Heat
Comments that people vote 🔥 earn you heat. Heat is bragging rights now, and rewards later.
